Airsoft for Military Members: Realistic Training, Real Discounts

CQB training at Awaken Arena

San Antonio is Military City USA. JBSA — Lackland, Randolph, Fort Sam Houston — is right in our backyard. So is the 116,000-acre Camp Bullis training reservation. We know our audience.

If you're active duty, in the reserves, or a veteran looking for a way to keep your CQB instincts sharp without rolling through the gate at a base for the third time this week, Awaken Arena is the closest civilian-side approximation you'll find. Plus, we honor a standing military discount. Here's what to expect.

1. Why it's more than a hobby

For most civilians, airsoft is a fun weekend activity. For people who've spent time clearing rooms with live weapons, airsoft is something else: it's reps. It's the chance to keep movement, communication, and decision-making sharp outside of a base or range setting.

We hear it all the time from active-duty customers: "this felt more like work than I expected — in a good way." Our indoor field is built with corners, doorways, multi-level structures, and sight-line varieties that make CQB principles immediately useful — slicing the pie, mutual support, comms discipline, all of it.

2. Useful drills

Show up with your buddies and you can run any of these on our field — staff will set up the scenarios:

Two-man room clears

Stack, breach, dominate. Reps on entry techniques, sector of fire calls, and bounding. Cheap, repeatable, and as realistic as it gets without a live weapon.

Hostage rescue

One team holds, one team assaults — with a "VIP" target that has to be extracted alive. Forces deliberate target ID and fire discipline.

React-to-contact

Drills small-unit immediate-action procedures: contact left, contact right, break contact. Gets reps in on team movements without burning through ammo.

Movement to contact

Bounding overwatch, sector of fire, comms — all the fundamentals that benefit from practice in any environment.

Bring your own gear if you want — we accommodate chrono'd personal guns. Or just rent ours and walk in.

3. The military & veteran discount

10% off walk-in play and gear rentals

Active duty, National Guard, Reserves, and veterans — bring your military ID, VA ID, or DD-214 and the discount applies at checkout. No paperwork, no special booking — just show ID at the front desk.

Discount applies to walk-in play and gear rentals. Group bookings (parties, private rentals) are quoted separately — just mention you're booking for a unit and we'll work with you.

4. Unit events

Plenty of squads, flights, and platoons book Awaken Arena for:

  • Squad bonding events — informal, off-duty
  • Re-enlistment celebrations — host the post-ceremony hangout here
  • Going-away parties — for PCSing or transitioning members
  • Post-deployment "decompress" days
  • ROTC and cadet programs — we work with university programs

Bringing a group?

For 10+ people, our private party packages bundle the field and gear. For 20+, we'll rent the whole venue — no walk-ins, just your unit. Email us with your group size and a target date and we'll send a quote.

Thank you for your service

We mean it. Bring your ID, get your discount, and put your buddies in the dirt. (Or carpet, technically — we're indoors.)
